Limited-Use / Limited-Application Elevator Specifications

PART 1 - GENERAL

  1. 1.1 WORK INCLUDED
    1. Supply One Heritage Elevator "VECTOR" (LULA Elevator) complete with all necessary doors, hardware, switches, mechanical safety mechanisms, emergency lighting and electrical wiring from the disconnect switches. (Installation to be done by authorized personnel).

  3. 1.3 REFERENCE
    1. Perform LULA Elevator work to ASME A17.1 and CSA B44 local codes and regulations except where specified otherwise.
  4. 1.4 GENERAL
    1. Provide a ________________ (Choose from Direct Up-Right, Direct 2 Stage Telescopic, or 1:2 Roped) hydraulic driven Elevator designed for the transportation of passengers, to the following standards:
      1. Standard Car Platform: 42" x 60" (1067 x 1524 mm) with enclosed sides 81" (2057mm) high. (Inside net platform area not to exceed 18 sq ft)
      2. Maximum Rated Load: 635 kg (1,400 lbs) exclusive of complete car and plunger.
      3. Travel: From lower floor to upper floor a distance of ______ ft serving ______ landings.
      4. Maximum Speed: 0.15 m/s (30 fpm) in both directions.
      5. Power supply to be ______ volt, ______ phase, 30 A.
      6. Choose from 240 V, 1 phase; 208 V, 3 phase; 600 V, 3 phase).
      7. Car light supply: 120 V, 1 phase, 15 A<./li>
  5. 1.5 SHOP DRAWINGS
    1. Submit shop drawings in accordance with Section 01001.
    2. Shop drawings shall clearly show all arrangements, dimensions, materials, weights and gauges, motor sizes and capacity, material finishes and all other relevant details.
  6. 1.6 MAINTENANCE DATA
    1. Provide maintenance data for elevator maintenance. Incorporate into manual specified in Section 01730.
    2. Included in maintenance data:
      1. Replacement parts list.
      2. Legible schematic wiring diagrams covering electrical equipment as supplied and installed, including changes made in final work with symbols listed corresponding to identifying numbers or markings on both machine room and hoistway apparatus.
      3. Manufacturer's recommended maintenance tasks and frequencies.
  7. 1.7 MAINTENANCE SERVICE
    1. Provide complete maintenance of elevator equipment for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of completion.
    2. Examine, clean, adjust, and lubricate equipment four (4) times in approximately three (3) month intervals from the maintenance period.
    3. Repair or replace electrical and mechanical parts of the elevator equipment as required due to defect and normal wear and tear.
    4. Use only genuine standard parts produced by the manufacturer of the equipment.
    5. Perform all work by competent personnel under supervision and in direct employ of elevator manufacturer or manufacturer's licensed agent.
    6. Included call-back service due to elevator stoppage or malfunction at all times at no additional cost for a period of one (1) year. This service covers only elevator equipment failure.
  8. 1.8 GUARANTEE
    1. Provide written guarantee, signed and issued in the name of ________________, stating workmanship is guaranteed for two (2) years from the date of issuance of license by an elevator inspector.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

  1. 2.1 COMPONENTS
    1. Use cylinder and pump unit from standard product line of one manufacturer.
    2. All limit switches shall be positive action, double break.
  2. 2.2 CAR ENCLOSURE
    1. The car size shall be a minimum of 42" x 60" (1067 x 1524 mm) with enclosed sides minimum 80" (2032 mm) high. Cab frame shall be bolted together to form a rigid, plumb and square assembly.
    2. The car enclosed shall also incorporate the following features:
      1. Emergency lights.
      2. Digital position indicator (D.P.I.).
      3. Audible alarm which shall remain functional in the event of a power failure.
      4. Car station including: (i) keyswitch - optional (ii) floor call buttons (iii) light switch (iv) emergency stop switch (v) door open button.
      5. Cab shall be constructed with a steel frame and ½" pre-finished component panels. Finish to be light oak wood grain or alternate.
      6. Panel edges trimmed with Stainless Steel #4 finish.
      7. Cab floor to be 11 Ga. steel sheet covered with 1/16" vinyl flooring.
      8. Cab ceiling to be constructed with load-supporting solid material c/w two (2) pot lights and top of car inspection station, as required by local codes.
      9. Telephone cabinet and wiring for installation of telephone by others.
  3. 2.3 LANDING ENTRANCES
    1. Each landing entrance, supplied as an integral unit, shall be 36" x 80" swing type. It shall be pre-wired, prime coated and ready for installation. Each landing entrance shall have the following equipment included and mounted:
      1. Two speed adjustable hydraulic door closer.
      2. Three ball bearing hinges.
      3. Door vision panel approximately 4" x 20" of clear wired glass.
      4. Hall station mounted in frame, including (i) stainless steel cover,
        (ii) call button(s) and, (iii) keyswitch (optional).
      5. The landing entrance assembly will carry 1-1/2 hour fire label using type "N" G.A.L. elevator interlock to maintain door in a closed and locked position when the lift is not at the landing.
      6. The doorstop on the platform side of the frame will be no thicker than 14 Ga plate.
      7. The vision panel glass will be flush with the surface of the door within the 1/16".
      8. The vision panel frame will be no thicker than 16 Ga plate.
  4. 2.4 PUMPING UNIT
    1. Supply and install the pumping unit in the machine room, indicated at the floor.
    2. The pumping unit will have the following features:
      1. One submersible motor and screw type pump to provide ultimate noise reduction and motor cooling capabilities.
      2. A relief valve of proper size, which will bypass the capacity of the pump without raising the pressure more than 10% above that at which it begins to open. A relief valve is to be set on site at a pressure not greater than 25% of the working pressure and sealed by an inspector from the local enforcing authority.
      3. A hydraulic gauge shall be supplied in the pressure line with a range of approximately twice the working pressure and isolated by a needle valve.
      4. A ball valve with a cracking pressure of approximately 5000 psi shall be supplied in the pressure line. This ball valve must be capable of fully supporting the car and its load on a locked column of oil.
      5. An adjustable flow-control device is to be incorporated in the valve:
        • * in order to regulate the flow of oil, and
        • * set the car speed in the down direction.
      6. CSA approved solenoid valve, which is electrically operated and spring return is to be supplied in the return line. When a down button is in operation, this valve is to be open to allow the oil to return to the reservoir. This valve is to have a formed epoxy coil easily replaceable. The coil is to be rated for continuous duty.
      7. A manual lowering valve is to be included in the return line to bypass normal control devices.
      8. Valve may be incorporated integrally as part of the "down" solenoid valve.
      9. The suction line, inside the tank shall be supplied with a filter to prevent dirt particles from entering the pump.
      10. The oil supplied shall be high quality hydraulic oil specifically designed for hydraulic pump use.
  5. 2.5 HOISTWAY
    1. Car guides shall be planed "T" rails, rated 8 lbs per foot in weight and spliced with machined surface fishplates.
    2. Guide brackets shall be of steel and securely fastened to the building structure. Brackets shall hold the guide rail in a plumb and straight position regardless of the cab load.
  6. 2.6 CONTROLLER
    1. The controller to be certified by CSA or approved testing organization.
    2. The controller must have provision for auxiliary power input and, auxiliary power down output.
    3. The function of the controller will be completely pre-wired and require only installation of the hoistway wiring upon installation.
  7. 2.7 OPERATION
    1. Elevator shall have Simplex Automatic button controls and shall have an automatic stop at all landings.
    2. The elevator shall re-level automatically if over 3/4" of creep occurs. The re levelling will not operate if the platform is over 2" away from the landing.
    3. The control circuit will have a "non-interference" timer so that a user can exit before a call can be placed from the call/send station.
    4. The door interlocks will be locked before the lift can move. They will not be bypassed at the landing.
    5. The landing door interlock will remain locked at all times unless a keyswitch is turned on, the door is open, or the non-interference timer is operating.
    6. There will be an auxiliary means at each landing to unlatch the door in case of emergency.
    7. In a power failure, the control system will be automatically transferred to an auxiliary power source. This will allow the elevator to be lowered by the down button in the car. The safety circuit will not be bypassed.

PART 3 - ERECTION

  1. 3.1 INSTALLATION
    1. Assemble all components in strict conformance with manufacturer's instructions.
    2. Set entrances in perfect alignment with car openings and plumb with hoistway.
    3. Erect sills, headers, and frames prior to erection of the rough walls. Install doors, facia, toe guard, after walls are finished.
    4. Doors and frames furnished under this section shall be painted by the painting contractor.
  2. 3.2 PROTECTION
    1. Upon completion, touch-up and restore to like new condition any damaged or defaced factory finished surfaces.
    2. Remove protective coverings and clean exposed surfaces after completion and leave in first class condition.
  3. 3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
    1. Perform and meet tests required by: ASME A17.1 and CSA B44
    2. Submit to architect tests and approval certificates issued by jurisdictional authorities.
  4. 3.4 ACCEPTABLE PRODUCT
    1. The following manufacturer is acceptable, provided they comply with this specification and all other governing regulations and authorities:
